How to replace a Ford Fairlane Header Exhaust Manifold?
1.Secure Vehicle
Disconnect the vehicle’s battery. Remove engine cover. Remove engine components in the way of the exhaust manifold. Remove heat shield.
2.Remove Exhaust Manifold
Spray the exhaust manifold bolts or nuts with penetrating fluid. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. Remove exhaust manifold from the exhaust pipe. Remove old exhaust manifold gasket. Clean the exhaust ports on the cylinder head.
3.Replace New Gasket
Attach the new exhaust manifold gasket onto the studs on the cylinder head. Install a new gasket between the bottom of the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipes.
4.Install New Exhaust Manifold
Attach the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipes below the vehicle. Slide the exhaust manifold onto the cylinder head studs. Hand-tighten each nut onto the cylinder head studs. Tighten exhaust manifold nuts.
5.Rearrange all Removal Parts
Reinstall heat shield onto the exhaust manifold. Reattach parts. Refill radiator with recommended coolant. Remove any tools, parts, or materials you used in this job. Reattach battery terminals. Testing the repair.
