How to replace a Jaguar XJR Super V8 Vanden Plas XJ8 Oil Cooler Hose/Transmission Cooling Line/Hose?
1.Secure the Vehicle
Secure the vehicle on a level surface, making sure the vehicle will not roll or lean too much when jacked up. Using a floor jack, raise the front of the vehicle. Secure the vehicle with jack stands on both sides for safety before starting any work. Do not rely on the jack to hold the vehicle up while working.
2.Locate Jaguar Transmission Line/Hose
Locate the transmission cooler hard lines that run into the radiator and inspect them for leaks. Disconnect the transmission cooler lines at the radiator and drain the fluid into a drain pan. Disconnect the transmission cooler lines at the transmission and again drain the fluid into a drain pan.
3.Remove Old Jaguar Transmission Line/Hose
The two oil cooler clamps and lines are disconnected and the excess oil is allowed to drain. The defective oil cooler lines are removed from the oil filter housing and removed from the vehicle.
4.Replace New Jaguar Transmission Line/Hose
The new oil cooler lines are installed to the oil filter housing and secured with new clamps. The two oil cooler lines are connected and secured with new clamps to the oil cooler as well as any hangers that they may have been suspended from.
5.Check for Leaks & Test Drive
Fill the transmission with the manufacturer’s recommended fluid to the proper level indicated in Owner’s Manual. Start the vehicle and check the transmission dipstick to make sure the fluid is at the proper level. Top off if needed then road test the vehicle to make sure there are no leaks around the transmission cooler lines. The vehicle is road tested for proper operation and the cooler lines are rechecked for any signs of leakage. Using a floor jack, raise the front of the vehicle.
