How to replace a Ford Lincoln Mercury Radiator Tone Horn?

1.Materials Needed for Repair

  • New horn assembly
  • Protective gloves
  • Repair manuals (optional)
  • Ratchet or wrench
  • Safety glasses

2.Locate Horn Assembly

Confirm the location of the horn assembly. The horn is generally located on the radiator support or behind the grille of the vehicle. Disconnect the negative battery cable and set it aside.

3.Remove Electrical Connector, Retaining a fastener & Horn

Remove the horn’s electrical connector by pushing down on the tab and sliding it off. Remove the horn’s retaining fasteners using a ratchet or wrench. Once the electrical connector and fasteners have been removed, pull the horn out of the vehicle.

4.Installing the New Horn Assembly

Place the new horn in position. Reinstall the fasteners and tighten them down until they are snug.

5.Reinstall Connector & Battery

Plug the electrical connector into the new horn. Reconnect the negative battery cable and tighten it down.
