How to replace an Oldsmobile Power Seat Motor?

1.Secure Vehicle

Activate the seat motor switch. If the seat motor won’t work, try to gain access to the back of the motor switch. You can do this by detaching the seat trim panel. Disconnect the negative battery cable first in order to prevent accidents. Test the motor switch for ground and power. If it’s a negative for both, bypass the switch and provide ground and power for the seat motor.

2.Remove Connection To Motors

Use a screwdriver to carefully remove the bolts that hold the car seat in place. Look for the electrical connections at the base of the seat. Once you’ve found them, be sure to remove each connection.

3.Remove Seat Motor Assembly

Pull the entire seat out of your vehicle. Locate your power seat motor, and remove it carefully.

4.Replace New Seat Motor

Replace it with your new seat motor. Make sure the new seat motor is working by providing power and ground. If the motor is working, reinstall the seat and connect all electrical connections. Bolt seat into place.

5.Check the Seat Motor Function

Connect the power seat switch, and return the power seat trim panel that was removed in Step 1. Reconnect your battery cable. Test the power seat to make sure the new motor is installed properly.
