How to replace a Dodge Ram 1500 New Accelerator Throttle Cable?
1.Locate Your Throttle Body
Open your hood and locate your engine’s throttle body. Remove the air intake duct at the throttle body.Inspect the throttle body ports for carbon build up. Throttle bore wear is also common for long periods of time and throttle body assemblies will need to be replaced if worn. Remove the throttle cable from the throttle body control lever.
2.Tools Required
- Screwdrivers
- Socket set
- Spanners
- Needle pointed pliers.
3.Remove the Throttle Cable
Disconnect the throttle cable at the throttle body. Disconnect the throttle cable from the retaining bracket. Pull the throttle cable through the firewall. Disconnecting the throttle cable from the accelerator pedal.
4.Install the New Cable
Push the new cable through the firewall. Hook the new cable up to the accelerator pedal. Reconnect the throttle cable to the retaining bracket. Reconnect the throttle cable at the throttle body.
5.Start the engine
Start your engine and pay attention to the idle of the engine to verify the repair.
