How to replace a Mercury Grand Marquis & Marauder Headlight Control Switch?
1.Locate the headlight switch
Turn the key to the on position to provide power to all interior accessories. Locate the headlight switch mounted on the dash or steering column.
2.Turn the headlight switch to the on position
Turn the headlight switch to the on position, the high beam position and fog light position (if equipped with fog lights). Inspect the headlights, high beams, and fog lights for proper illumination. If all of the lights are inoperative, check the headlight fuse and bulbs first then check for power and ground at the switch.
3.Check the Switch is Bad or Good
Pull or turn the switch on and check for power out of the switch. If there is no power coming out of the switch, then the switch is bad.
4.Remove the Headlight Switch
Turn off the ignition switch and remove the negative battery cable. Remove the steering column cover. Disconnect the switch from the wiring connection. Replace with a new headlight switch. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
5.Install the Headlight Switch
Turn the headlight switch to the on position and check the high and low beam for proper operation to verify the repair.
