How to replace a Ford Fusion Capa Hood Front Panel?
1.Secure Vehicle
Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example, latex gloves or closed toe shoes. Release the hood latch and open the hood. Disconnect the windshield washer tubing. Remove the hood insulator, washer tubing, and emblem if applicable. Open the hood of the car and use the hood support arm to rest the hood on to keep it open. Locate the hinges, nuts, and bolts in each corner that are securing the hood the frame.
2.Locate & Remove the Bolts
Remove the nuts from the bolts on one side of the hood while your friend removes the nuts on the opposite side of the hood using the ratchet set. Keep the nuts in a safe place for later installation of the hood. If necessary, install a hood prop and remove the hood struts. Lift one side of the hood while your friend lifts the opposite side at the same time to remove the hood from the frame. Place the hood on a clean padded surface for storage.
3.Remove Old Ford Fusion Capa Hood Front Panel
Remove the bolts holding the hood to the hood hinge on one side of the vehicle. Have an assistant support the hood while you remove the bolts on the other side. Remove the hood. Paint the new hood to match the color of the vehicle. Check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for the color code if the vehicle has the original paint.
4.Replace New Ford Fusion Capa Hood Front Panel
Attach the new hood to the hinges with the help of an assistant. Snug down the bolts, but do not tighten. If applicable, install the hood struts, washer tubing, emblem, and insulation onto the new hood.
5.Replace All Removal Parts & Close Hood
Carefully close the hood and inspect the alignment. Adjust the hood and tighten the hinge bolts. Tighten all four bolts with a ratchet. Close the hood.
